On May 10, 1930 the Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers 14 to 5 in New York. Ruth hit 2 doubles, 1 single, and was walked 3 times. He scored 3 times and never got out! The story goes that this was a foul ball a fan caught, and Ruth stayed to sign autographs after the game. You can see portions of all of the letters of Babe Ruth’s full name. But, “Ruth” is more clearly seen. Check out the pictures. The ball itself dates back to 1927. BB Johnson’s name was replaced on the balls in 1928 after he was forced to resign in 1927. 17-25″ (see pics) but “The Cushioned Cork Center” replaced “The Cork Center on the south panel in 1927 (see pics).
