One of the HOLY GRAILS of Presidential Autograph Collecting! Legendary 16th President of the United States, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, scarce and authentic early handwritten legal case dated October 1837. Side one is entirely in the hand of Lincoln. Over 60 words and flourishes written in the same hand that wrote the Gettysburg Address and signed the emancipation proclamation many years later. Signed at conclusion as “Lincoln”. One of the earliest Lincoln legal documents ever offered. This document written by Lincoln directed the clerk to issue a subpoena in chancery for Isaac R. Braucher in a suit brought by William Hickman, administrator of George Churchill, deceased. A very early Lincoln legal document – dated the year he had begun the regular practice of law. Stuart and Lincoln eventually won this suit. CERTIFIED AUTHENTIC BY PSA/DNA EXPERT EXAMINATION and encapsulated encapsulated inside PSA/DNA’s sonically-sealed, tamper-evident holder. Additionally accompanied by an LOA from James Spence Authentication (JSA). In the spring of 1837, after having accepted Stuart’s offer to become his junior law partner, Lincoln moved to Springfield. Unfortunately, Stuart’s main concern was politics and he provided Lincoln with little legal instruction, leaving Lincoln to begin learning by trying cases. The trial by fire came quickly when Stuart won election to the House of Representatives in 1838 and left Lincoln alone to handle the legal partnership business. After Stuart won re-election in 1841, Lincoln, realizing that he could no longer maintain the practice by himself, formally dissolved their legal partnership. One of the HOLY GRAILS of Presidential Autograph Collecting! Legendary 16th President of the United States, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, entirely handwritten and signed plea for the case of Samuel Hitchcock V. The plea dates from May 1st, 1855 and showcases Lincoln’s legal genius as the pleas filed that day ultimately won the case for the man Lincoln represented. Verifiably provenanced as an original Lincoln document by the book “Abraham Lincoln Day-by-Day Chronology”. Lengthy 50+ words written in the same hand that wrote the Gettysburg Address and signed the emancipation proclamation just a few years later. Not only does Lincoln write every word, he signs at the conclusion, “Lincoln”. Exceptional provenance: This case is logged and recorded in the definitive “Abraham Lincoln Day-by-Day Chronology” book as having been argued by Lincoln on May 1st, 1855. One of the few documents on the market with provenance widely accepted by academia. Lincoln had appeared for the defendant William Glasgow in two cases heard before the Tazewell County, Illinois court in October 1854. In this second case, Hitchcock v. Glasgow (which this document relates to), Lincoln was more successful. The case was continued until spring 1855, when Lincoln filed this plea, arguing that the Hitchcocks could not recover the debt owed as there was no valid record, since Glasgow was an “Illinois” resident at the time the Ohio court awarded the Hitchcock estate its judgement. This plea handwritten by Lincoln caused the plaintiff to dismiss the action and secured Lincoln’s client his win in court. >>> UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC! This autograph has been certified authentic and slabbed by the industry experts at PSA/DNA. Glasgow ads Samuel Hitchcock, admin of Isabella Hitchcock, dec^d Debt upon Record.
