General George Smith Patton Jr. [1885 1945] was a senior officer of the United States Army who commanded the U. S Seventh Army in the Mediterranean and European theaters of World War II but is best known for his leadership of the U. Third Army in France and Germany following the Allied invasion of Normandy in June of 1944. Patton began his military career in 1909 and served in the Mexican Revolution Campaign. During World War I he was assigned to establish the AEF Light Tank School and led his unit the newly formed 304th Tank Brigade into battle at the Meuse-Argonne Offensive and was wounded in battle. On December 8, 1945 Patton’s vehicle collided with a American army truck and while his injuries where at first considered minor Patton died on December 21, 1945. At his request he was buried with his fellow soldiers at the American Cemetery in Luxembourg City of Luxembourg. The display is centered around a wonderful color military portrait [8.00 x 11.00 inches] of the general. Below the portrait is the autograph of General Patton signed as follows,”G. Patton Jr” and he added his rank Lt. Gen” in black fountain pen on a album page. The album page measures approximately 4.50 x 3.75 inches and is in fine condition. Mounted below the autograph is a professionally engraved metal bio plaque which is engraved with an actual quote from the general and the plaque reads as follows,”George S. Patton November 11, 1885 – December 21, 1945. General of The United States Army.’A good plan violently executed right now is far better then a perfect plan executed next week”. Mounted on each side of the plaque is a pair of Lieutenant General’s gold stars. The display itself is stunning and has been professionally assembled and double matted as follows. The outer matte is actually a beige linen cloth and it is accented with a army green inner matte. The display has been assembled with a quality heavy-weight wood frame to the dimensions of 26.00 x 16.50 inches. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA Authentication Services [in person not by scans] and the display will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. This is a wonderful authentic example of this prominent American general, authenticated, signed with rank and the presentation is stunning and ready to be displayed in your collection.
