This is not a REPRINT or a REPRODUCTION. This is an extremely rare poster. Only a few are known to exist. This is the original half sheet movie poster (22″ x 28″) from the 1947 re-release of the film. The artwork is close to that of the original three sheet poster which makes this re-release poster highly sought after. One of the best and nearly impossible to find. Universal’s 1931 production of Frankenstein made a star of actor Boris Karloff and firmly established the studio in the Golden Age of Horror, initiated earlier that year with Bela Lugosi’s performance in Dracula. Paper from this landmark film is incredibly scarce, bringing record prices when it does appear. Many collectors see the re-release paper, such as this half sheet as an attractive alternative to the original paper, as it represents a chance to own something from an important film at a more approachable price. There are only two known examples of this poster that have resurfaced and this is one of them. Owning this, as a collector, would be to own a true piece of film and horror history. Professional restoration has been applied to the folds, pinholes in the borders, and a few small tears at the edges. There has also been touchup in the upper right corner for a couple of slivers of paper loss, and there has been touchup to Colin Clive’s face and chest. There were a couple of surface cuts at the right side of the horizontal fold, and the borders have been airbrushed. The restoration was excellently done and most of these prior defects are completely unnoticeable! This poster was in C7-C8 Very Good/Excellent to Excellent condition prior to restoration but now presents in C9 Near Mint condition. Included with this amazing poster is an authentic and original BORIS KARLOFF. This autograph has been.
