Curly Howard died in 1952 — This Signed Album Page is dated 1942. Certified by PSA / DNA and awarded PSA 9 MINT Autograph Grades. Encapsulated (Slabbed) To Protect this Museum Quality Piece for Generations to come. The person who received the autographs met them at a local event in Pennsylvania. Took their photograph and asked them to sign the album page. The autograph recipient then had the photograph developed and pasted it onto the album page beside the signatures. The photograph is an Original photo really makes this piece shine! The photo was mounted slightly over top of the “y” in Curley (see photos). The Original 3 Stooges Signed Cast Piece! Deserving of the Best Collection! The Three Stooges were a beloved vaudeville and comedy act best known for their short subject films. Their careers began in the 1920s and ran until the late 1960s, with their popularity continuing to the present day. Amazingly, since they first appeared on television in 1958, their original shorts have never left the airwaves. The Stooges are synonymous with over-the-top, highly physical slapstick comedy and have remained wildly popular. The group began on the vaudeville stage as “sidekicks” to Ted Healy the original composition was Moe Howard, his brother Shemp Howard, and Larry Fine. Shemp soon left the group to pursue a solo career, and was replaced by his brother, Curly Howard. This incarnation to many people the ultimate ensemble was the first to be called The Three Stooges. In 1934, the trio began their appearance in wildly two-reel comedy short subjects for Columbia Pictures. Their escapades continued until Curly suffered a debilitating stroke in 1946, prompting Shemp’s reluctant return to the line-up. Shemp stayed a Stooge until his death from a heart attack in 1955. Actor Joe Besser was recruited to keep the franchise alive but was replaced by “Curly-Joe” DeRita in 1958. In addition to live performance, the Moe-Larry-Curly Joe incarnation made a series of films between 1959 to 1965 that included. Have Rocket, Will Travel. The Three Stooges Meet Hercules. Decades after their original adventures delighted filmgoers, the Stooges continue to find new generations of fans via television, videotapes, and DVDs. The demand for their autographs has thus remained strong through the years. The most popular combination of signatures is Moe, Larry, and Curly. Autograph book pages are typically the most common, with Moe often added “3 Stooges” somewhere on the page. The same also holds true for signed photos. Individual signatures of any of those Stooges are also desirable, as are autographs from Shemp either as a single or with his fellow Stooges. Besser and DeRita are not as coveted, but still collected by fans.
